We need a new flag because our current flag doesn't reflect who we are as a nation. It says that we came from the UK and is often confused with the Australian flag. It's true that we came from the UK but is that our core message as a nation going forward? A flag like ours works as a reminder tag for the British Empire but does not work well as a symbol reflecting a nation with a vibrant identity like we have here.
I'd love to see a flag that reflects the creativity and beauty of New Zealand. Not an easy one to crack but what a wonderful challenge for our nation.
