Over 60 years ago, the poet Allen Curnow dreamed of being, and challenged us to be, a country brave enough to "stand upright here". Now is the time truly to do that. And a new, bold and distinctive flag is a great first step. We are more than ever now aware that we are a uniquely brave and creative nation. Let our flag symbolise that - especially in the 21st century which teems with wonder for our remarkable country.
